It was Mahatma Gandhi’s dream to inculcate the spirit of enterprise through cottage industry movement. Following this dream Late Sri Bhagwati Prasad Gupta, a strong follower of Gandhi, along with his brothers Late Sri Kishori Lal Gupta and Late Sri Ram Kishor Gupta founded Ashok Griha Udyog Kendra, on December 14, 1957.
In those days it was more of a nationalistic gesture than a business venture. And for Late Sri Bhagwati Prasad Gupta, a prominent social activist, eminent philanthropist and founder of various educational and medical institutions like Omar Vaish Vidyalaya, Chacha Nehru Inter College, Majhawan, Dharmarth Bal Chikitsalaya, B.B.S. Chikitsalya, it was another additional towards his services to the nation.
Though Ashok Griha Udyog Kendra was started with the idea of supporting the national movement for self-sufficiency, it soon grew into a full-fledged business venture through the quality of its products. Today Ashok Griha Udyog Kendra has grown into a diversified group, promoting brands that are known for their superior quality and purity.
